Helping fathers assert rights and mothers secure support in Covington and surrounding Georgia counties.
Every child deserves to know both where they come from and that they’re supported.
At William F. Elliott, P.C., we help parents resolve paternity and legitimation matters with clarity and compassion — protecting the rights of fathers, mothers, and, most importantly, the children involved.
Serving Covington, Newton, Rockdale, Walton, and Jasper counties, Bill Elliott has more than 20 years of experience helping families navigate Georgia’s paternity laws to ensure children receive the care and connection they deserve.

Paternity establishes a man as the biological father and allows child support to be ordered.
Legitimation gives a biological father legal rights — including custody and visitation.
In Georgia, unmarried fathers must file a separate Petition for Legitimation to gain those rights. Bill guides you through both processes — from DNA testing to final court orders — ensuring your rights are protected and your child’s best interests come first.

We arrange accurate, court-approved paternity testing.

Handle every detail from petition to hearing.

Establish or defend financial and parental rights.

Balanced support for both mothers seeking support and fathers seeking involvement.
For mothers, establishing paternity ensures your child receives needed financial and medical support.
For fathers, legitimation secures your right to be an active, recognized parent.
We help you protect your child’s security and your role in their life — both legally and emotionally.

We're the best
I’m William Elliott, a lifelong advocate for the Covington community and surrounding areas.
Unlike big-city firms that come and go, my roots — and my commitment — are right here in
Newton County.
After earning my B.A. in Political Science from Franklin & Marshall College and my J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, I began practicing law in 1993. Since then, i’ve been honored to serve as a member of both the State Bar of Georgia and the State Bar of Illinois, as well as the Georgia Court of Appeals and Northern District of Georgia.
For more than two decades, I’ve built my practice in Covington with one goal: to serve families and individuals with honesty, compassion, and strong legal advocacy. My experience as a Juvenile Court Judge in Newton County gave me firsthand insight into how family and youth issues truly affect our community.
Today, I draw on that perspective to guide clients through family law, criminal defense, and juvenile cases with practical solutions and personal attention. If you’re looking for a local attorney who understands both the law and the people behind it, I’m here to help protect what matters most to you.
